Toumani accomplishes many similar effects (and some of the same phrasing and floating accents) that Keith Jarret did in The Koln Concert, only Toumani does it with a fraction of the strings and without peddles (though it seems like he does some muting with pressing into the strings). Years from now when somebody asks me where I first heard Toumani Diabete, I’m going to site your blog.
