Here are a couple new tunes from Death Cab for Cutie's latest album, Narrow Stairs, most of which deals with existential themes.

I'm not that familiar with their music, but there is one song that I really like.
I Will Follow You Into the Dark
Yes, that's a good one – again, dealing in existential themes. On their new album, they have a song about the singer's pilgrimage to a place associated with Jack Kerouac, and his chagrin not to find any revelations there – still feeling adrift from meaning. I may add it in to my blog above.
Here are the lyrics…
Bixby Canyon Bridge
I descended a dusty gravel ridge
Beneath the Bixby Canyon Bridge
Until I eventually arrived
At the place where your soul had died.
Barefoot in the shallow creek,
I grabbed some stones from underneath
And waited for you to speak to me.
And in the silence, it becamse so very clear
That you had long ago dissapeared.
I cursed myself for being surprised
That this didn't play like it did in my mind.
All the way from San Francisco
As I chased the end of your road
Cause I've still got miles to go.
And I want to know my fate
If I keep up this way.
And it's hard to want to stay awake
When everyone you meet, they all seem to be asleep.
And you wonder if you've missed your dream.
You can't see a dream
You can't see a dream.
You just can't see a dream.
And then it started getting dark.
I trudged back to where the car was parked
No closer to any kind of truth
As I assume was the case with you.
Hey Balder,
I love Death Cab. And their associated projects (like Postal Service and Dntel)
I have only heard the one single off the new album “I will possess your heart”. Been meaning to dive into the rest of the release… guess it's I tunes for me tonight!
Cool, Gina! If you like their work already, I'm sure you won't be disappointed in their newest album.
Ben mentioned I Will Follow You Into the Dark, so I'm going to link to another one from the same album (Plans) that I really like.
Soul Meets Body
Post links to your favorite Death Cab songs, if you like!
Best wishes,
