Math Rock and Burmese Classical Music

Posted on Mar 25th, 2009 by Balder : Kosmonaut Balder

Two math rock tunes from Battles...

Battles - Tonto (from the album Mirrored)

Battles - Atlas (taken from the forthcoming album Mirrored)

And a sampling of some Burmese Classical music.  I think there's a similar aesthetic here.  What do you think?

You're welcome, Nicole. I'd never heard of it before till I came across a reference to it on Integral Life yesterday.  Not the usual sort of music I listen to, but I appreciate it when people experimentally push boundaries (and it works)…

Just an FYI to folks who looked at this blog earlier.  I've updated it, complementing Battles' music with an example of Burmese classical music, instead of the “Animal Collective” song.  I think it's a better fit!
