Here's my first Youtube video -- a recording of a song by my old band, The Dog Soldiers. The band was led by Jimmy Thornton, Billy Bob Thornton's brother, and the song was recorded in a little home studio.

And here is a video of another one of our songs, "Island Avenue," which Billy Bob later covered on his album, The Edge of the World.

That's you? Oh my goodness. And wow.
(Billy Bob Thornton's version of Ring of Fire is one of my favorites. I love that he's not the only talent in the family.)
Hah! This is so different than how I picture you , Bruce! Which part of are you?
Thanks for taking the time to listen, Siona and Tely! I also really like Billy Bob Thornton's version of Ring of Fire – though I hadn't seen that Slingblade edit yet. I just added another video above – a song of ours, Island Avenue, that Billy Bob later covered on one of his albums.
And Tely, we made these songs back in the late '80s or early '90s – practically a different incarnation! I played the bass guitar.
Best wishes,
B.
Rock on, bad-ass bass-bodhisattva!
LOL, Mary! I'm having fun…experimenting with how to make a video for Youtube, but also just enjoying some long lost recordings. I made contact with the sound engineering student who initially helped us record some songs (for her school assignment) and she had recordings of lots of stuff I'd lost, including the song, “How Many Horses.” (We did an acoustic, slower, countrified version of that song, too, but I don't know if anyone still has it.)
I uploaded one more (badass) D.S. song to Youtube: In Flames.
you just way SNAP!…(that is the new word for cool…lol)…much joy to you…always, star…
LOL, thanks, Star! That was 20 years ago, so maybe I was SNAP, but …
hey babe…if ever you got it, you never lose it…lol…
I like what the name, Dog Soldiers, represents.
It must have been a lot of fun to play together :) Ah, those musical memories!
